God’s Love Language is Obedience

Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD commanded the man, saying, “you shall surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Genesis 6:5-6 The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart were only evil continually. And the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.

Genesis 12:1, 4 Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go…” So Abram went…

Hebrews 6:15 And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise.

Deuteronomy 6:5-7 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words I command you this day shall be on your heart. And you shall teach them diligently to your children…

Joshua 1:8-9 The Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

I Samuel 13:14 The LORD has sought out a man after his own heart…

Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, “I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.”

John 14:15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. ~Jesus

John 14:21, 23-24 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him. If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words.

John 15:10-14 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love… [~Jesus] These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.

I John 2:3-5 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says, “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected.

I John 4:19-20 We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God” but hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God who he has not seen. And this is the commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

I John 5:2-3 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep is commandments. His commandments are not burdensome.

When we come to learn and understand that God’s commandments are for our good, they bring joy, and are not burdensome it becomes so easy to love Him the way we are meant to.

Deuteronomy 6:5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

No Fear

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭ESV

‬‬This has been a go to scripture for me for sometime now. I actually remember the first time that the Lord spoke it into my life. It was July 2002. I was at a youth conference in Maryland and the preaching was quite intense. I didn’t take issue with the preaching per se but how the preacher was encouraging us to step out in faith and really minister to people, people that we didn’t even know, people on the street. Anyone who knows me knows that was a super scary idea for me. That was when the Lord began to talk to me about fear and trusting Him, being confident in Him. There have been many other times that scripture has proved relevant in my life. And I can’t seem to get away from it now. I see so much fear in the world today, both in and out of the Church. “These things ought not to be brethren.”
