Importance of Faith

I think God has been trying to teach me a lot about FAITH over the past few years. I went to open some notes this morning and I have 3 recent documents about faith. Did you know, FAITH is mentioned 245 times in the NT (KJV)? It is crazy important. You know why?

Hebrews 11:6 – And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.

There is nothing we can do for God or for the Kingdom of God without faith. It is vital.

Everything we do should be…

1. Faith in Jesus’ name

2. With thanksgiving

Colossians 3:17 & 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.

No Fear

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭ESV

‬‬This has been a go to scripture for me for sometime now. I actually remember the first time that the Lord spoke it into my life. It was July 2002. I was at a youth conference in Maryland and the preaching was quite intense. I didn’t take issue with the preaching per se but how the preacher was encouraging us to step out in faith and really minister to people, people that we didn’t even know, people on the street. Anyone who knows me knows that was a super scary idea for me. That was when the Lord began to talk to me about fear and trusting Him, being confident in Him. There have been many other times that scripture has proved relevant in my life. And I can’t seem to get away from it now. I see so much fear in the world today, both in and out of the Church. “These things ought not to be brethren.”

Rhema

When life seems overwhelming, I go back and read aloud the Word (rhema) the Lord very personally spoke to me. I will cling to His promise because I know His Word will NOT fail!

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge — no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Psalm‬ ‭91:1-16‬ ‭ESV‬‬
